My first post - The Poppy Appeal 2007

Aidan Thompson

So here I am with my new blog, all about my travels around London over the next couple of weeks. Just thought I'd put a couple pictures up from the launch of the Poppy Appeal 2007 that I attended last week. That's Aidan, whose father Mick Thompson served in the Army for 27 years until 2005, when he was killed on his way to work in Cyprus.

I guess the reason I'm doing this is to show that anyone and everyone could be affected in some way by conflict - but Craig (aka Freddie Lundberg) says it much better:

I’m really supportive of the Legion and the work it does. My experiences have shown me that, as a soldier, you just don't know what the future holds and when you might need to ask for help. It's great to know that the Legion is there to help people like me throughout my life and I know that the time will come when I will be asking for their help.

Me and Craig Lundberg, Iraq Veteran
Craig (aka Freddie) Lundberg - he was left blinded by an RPG attack in Iraq earlier this year in March 2007.

Over the next couple of weeks, I'll be touring around London, spreading the word about the 2007 Poppy Appeal and blogging it all right here. I'd love to hear from any of you out there - you can leave comments here, email me or send pictures to ThePoppyMan@gmail.com.
